Abruzzo – Between nature, castles and trabocchi

Known as the greenest region of Italy, Abruzzo is rich in scenic beauty and boasts three National Parks: the Abruzzo National Park, the Majella National Park and the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park. But not only that, here are also hidden history, culture, castles and medieval villages of rare beauty such as:

  • Santo Stefano di Sessanio :

built in white limestone, with its winding streets and Renaissance buildings, it is undoubtedly one of the most fascinating villages.

  • Scanno :

its unmistakable glimpses have been immortalized by the shots of different artists, who every year do not miss the opportunity to let themselves be carried away by its magic and photograph the heart-shaped lake of the same name.

  • Civitella del Tronto :

its historic center enriched by suggestive squares and alleys allows you to take a dip in the past. Here, moreover, is the “Ruetta”, that is the narrowest street in Italy.

  • Campli :

it is located in the province of Teramo and in this small village, time seems to have stopped. It was placed sixth in the ranking of the most beautiful villages in Italy and houses the Palazzo Farnese, one of the oldest palaces in all of Abruzzo. But the discovery of this wonderful territory also passes through its symbolic places. Absolutely not to be missed are:

Immersed in the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park, it is one of the highest castles in Italy and many films such as “Il Nome della Rosa” have been shot here. Moreover, thanks to its poignant beauty it has been included in the list of the 15 most spectacular castles in the world. This monument is very suitable for a motorbike holiday (click here to discover our program).

  • the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park

It is the third largest park of all those in Italy. Here it is possible to find places to go far and wide in all seasons of the year to discover scenarios and atmospheres characteristic of Abruzzo. Furthermore, it is an environment rich in unique fauna and flora , to be visited on foot, but also on horseback (click here to reveal an interesting itinerary) or by mountain bike.

These very special constructions are fishing machines on stilts that offer an incredible panorama . Some of them host restaurants where it is possible to taste traditional dishes from Abruzzo.

Also known as “Little Tibet”, it is the ideal destination for those who want to escape from the chaos of the city and spend a relaxing holiday. Here, moreover, there are a ski resort and an Astronomical Observatory, which allows you to admire the wonderful Milky Way. (At this link a fantastic way to admire this splendid area.)
