• The fortifications and walls of Alghero : recently restored, the walk along the ramparts is fantastic and offers many beautiful viewpoints on the coast.
• Cathedral of Alghero .
• The tower of the bell tower of the cathedral : where you can go up and enjoy the view of Alghero;
• Piazza Civica : the main square with many cafes on the terraces;
• Coral Museum , to learn more about this type of local craftsmanship;
• Church of San Michele and its colored dome;
• Church of Santa Barbara , the oldest church in the city;
• The seafront , for a walk along the coast.

But that’s not all, for those who want to discover the whole area in the best possible way it is also possible to visit the Caves of Neptune , easily reachable by boat from the port of Alghero. Another absolutely unmissable destination is the Porto Conte Regional Natural Park which can be visited on foot or by bicycle, and after a nice tour along the rocky coast you can immerse yourself in the waters of the 2 best beaches nearby Spiaggia Mugoni , in Porto Conte, and the Porto Ferro beach , the wildest in the area. Here are the main ones:

• Lido San Giovanni is the closest beach to the historic center and you can get there on foot. There, you can rent sunbeds and umbrellas. It is also a very child-friendly beach, thanks to its shallow waters.
• Maria Pia Beach: large white sand beach with a pine forest nearby. There are many car parks in the area.
• Bombarde Beach : located north of Alghero, towards Porto Conte. Well equipped with sun beds and pedal boats for rent + restaurants in the area.
• Lazzaretto beach : located right next to the Bombarde beach. It is a sandy beach with crystal clear water.
• Porticiello beach : its belvedere offers a splendid view of the Porto Conte Regional Natural Park.

Finally, to complete the tour you can return to the historic center and take your red coral jewel, the local specialty, to have a special souvenir of the “ Riviera del Corallo ”.
