Frecciarossa train in standard class, super economy fare (timetable cannot be changed or cancelled) from Milano Centrale to Roma Termini. Early afternoon arrival in Rome, transfer by private minibus to Bracciano where you will visit the wonderful Orsini Castle, with lake view, local guide and special access to the secret garden (usually not open to the public!). Overnight stay in Tuscania at a 3-star hotel, double or twin rooms, B&B.
Breakfast at the hotel. Minibus and private guide to discover the wonders of the ancient Etruscans in the two most beautiful and important necropolis, UNESCO World Heritage sites, Tarquinia and Cerveteri. Return in the afternoon to Tuscania. Overnight stay in Tuscania.
After breakfast, transfer by private bus and guide to Caprarola, to visit the majestic Farnese Palace and its spectacular gardens. Next you will discover Sutri, a delightful Latium village with an Etruscan necropolis and Roman amphitheatre. On the way back to Tuscania stop at Lake Vico, a natural beauty that will leave you breathless.
Breakfast at the hotel and check out. Before travelling by bus, we will unveil the two precious Romanesque churches of Tuscania. This is followed by a visit to the very elegant Villa Lante in Bagnaia, very different from Villa Farnese although built in the same area, at the same time and in the same architectural style. The day ends in Viterbo, where the Palazzo dei Papi remains an undisputed masterpiece. Overnight stay in Viterbo in the centre at a 3-star hotel with B&B mode.
Breakfast at the hotel and transfer by bus and with a guide to the abandoned and very picturesque village of Celleno, followed by a scenic walk to 'the dying city', an ancient beauty that defies time and the erosion of the tuffaceous spur on which it stands: Civita di Bagnoregio. In the afternoon you will admire Lake Bolsena at the town of the same name, which has a very well-preserved medieval castle. Return to Viterbo and overnight stay.
Breakfast at the hotel and with bus and guide you will discover the eccentric "Parco dei Mostri" - a very special and unique 16th century garden near Bomarzo. We will then move on to Umbria to enjoy the beauty of the village of Narni, standing since the Bronze Age.
Breakfast at the hotel and check out. On the way back to Termini station you will visit the Abbey of Farfa, a very important religious site that has influenced abbey orders throughout Italy.
Arrive at Termini station in the early afternoon and take the Frecciarossa train in standard class, super economy fare, to Milan central station.
