Started in 2007, the project CityLife not only seeks to create a new visual high-impact city planning with three big skyscrapers, but also develops a green soul in order to create a large park – the third in terms of dimension of the city center after Sempione Park and Public Gardens – and the largest pedestrian area in Milan. The Last Supper by Leonardo
The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci (Cenacolo Vinciano) is one of the most famous paintings in the world. The work was painted between 1484 and 1498 under the government of Ludovico il Moro and represents the last supper of Jesus and his disciples.
For the creation of this unique artwork, Leonardo has conduct a thorough investigation creating an infinitive number of working drawings. Leonardo, abandoning the traditional fresco painting method, has illustrated the scene using the “drystone” method on the refectory wall. Some traces of gold and silver metallic foils were found that proves the desire of the artist to create more realistic figures including precious details. The environment and the technical influence have contributed to the deterioration of the fresco, that has gone through many restorations.
The latest restoration was in 1999. Many scientific method were used to refurbish the original colors and, when possible, to remove the traces of the applied varnish in previous attempts to refurbish the fresco. The Last Supper by Leonardo is located in the original place in the wall of the ancient Dominican convent’s dining room connected with the Santa Maria delle Grazie church, precisely in the refectory of the convent and it is one of the most famous and well-known artworks in the world.
