The Eternal City is a real treasure trove, an open-air museum containing priceless works of art for which a lifetime would not be enough to visit them. Beginning of the visit to the Colosseum (tickets included), called by the ancient Romans "Amphitheatrum Flavium", was built by Emperor Vespasian, in about 72 AD, and inaugurated by his son Titus in 80 AD. Our guide will help you relive the atmosphere of the shows with wild beasts and gladiators that were held for centuries in this imposing monument. Visit to the Palatine hill, the Roman Forum and the Imperial Forums, which are a series of five monumental squares built over the course of a century and a half (between 46 BC and 113 AD) in the heart of the city of Rome by Julius Caesar and the emperors Augustus, Vespasian, Nerva and Trajan (on demand we can offer an exclusive access with a stunning view over the Forum). Return to the hotel in the afternoon to rest. Night in Rome in 5 star Luxury hotel.
After breakfast at the hotel, we will transfer early in the morning by cab (not included) to the Vatican Museums (tickets included) where with a private guide we will discover the museum with the most annual visitors in the entire peninsula. Our special admission will get you into the Museums early in the morning, thus avoiding the crowds normally found in the halls. The Vatican Museums' fame is more than understandable, given the priceless works such as the Sistine Chapel, which houses Michelangelo's The Last Judgment and The Creation of Adam, Raphael's rooms, the Gallery of Maps and the Cortile della Pigna. From the museums we'll arrive at St. Peter's Basilica, where at the entrance we'll immediately find the wonderful statue of the Pieta by Michelangelo, along with other masterpieces of rare beauty. We will then move on foot to Castle St. Angel (tickets included), a medieval castle built on the mausoleum of the Roman Emperor Hadrian. The visit will also reveal the frescoed Baroque rooms that hosted the Popes who took refuge in the castle.
After lunch we'll rest a bit at the hotel before reaching the Ancient Appian Way by private car with driver: we'll admire this ancient Roman road, sprinkled with ruins of millenary mausoleums, with a horseback ride with the colors of the sunset. Return to the hotel and second night in Rome.
We'll wake up at a more leisurely pace than yesterday and go on a guided tour of the picturesque Trastevere district to the splendid Acqua Paola fountain on the Janiculum Hill, which offers a unique view of the entire city. We will then descend to the Tiber River to appreciate the triumph of the Renaissance, of artists such as Raphael, Sebastiano del Piombo and Baldassarre Peruzzi, in the beautiful Villa Farnesina, which houses frescoed rooms such as the elegant Loggia of Cupid and Psyche. After having lunch in one of the typical local restaurants (not included) we will visit with a local guide all the most picturesque corners and squares of the city center, from Piazza Navona, to Piazza di Spagna, Fontana di Trevi, Piazza del Popolo, Pantheon and Piazza Venezia. Return to the hotel and third night in Rome.
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer by private car with driver to a cooking school to enjoy a Pizza or Gelato making class (in private or shared with other people), where a talented chef will reveal all his secrets to prepare these local delicacies. Fun guaranteed not only for children, but also for adults. In the afternoon, free time for shopping in the city center and then we will enjoy the most exclusive experience that the city can offer: a cocktail on the panoramic terrace of a noble house in the city center. The 360° view of the center of Rome with the colors of the sunset will be the best way to say goodbye to the eternal city. Return to the hotel by cab (not included), fourth and last night in Rome.
