Spello, called the splendid Colonia Julia in Roman times, an enchanting village considered among the most beautiful in Italy. Spello is known above all for the magnificent Infiorate, floral compositions created every year on the occasion of Corpus Domini. Moreover, the most representative event of the city is the Infiorata of Corpus Domini which takes place between May and June. Every year the streets of the medieval village are transformed into a wonderful, spectacular, immense carpet of flowers that exceeds 1.5 km. The streets of the center are decorated with sacred art paintings composed with flower petals, a unique event for religious tourism that has transformed Spello into the “capital of flowers” . Spello’s “night of flowers” is very suggestive, the night before Corpus Domini Sunday, in which it is possible to admire and participate in the frenetic and spectacular work of the infioratori , as well as attend the numerous music shows and visit the market exhibitions.
