Liguria – The charm of the Cinque Terre and the luxury of Portofino

The charm of Liguria is unique. On one side, it overlooks a shining sea and on the other it is surrounded by mountains. But this is a land to be discovered:

  • Camogli:

it is a picturesque village with tall colorful houses overlooking the coast and fishing traditions. The most beautiful buildings are part of the Palazzata di Camogli, a row of nineteenth-century buildings that have replaced the older ones. Furthermore, walking with the nose upwards you can see some painted windows, another architectural detail typical of the area.

  • Rapallo:

nestled between the sea and the mountains, Rapallo is a charming town, full of historic villas and buildings. Not surprisingly, it was chosen in the past by many illustrious personalities, including Friedrich Nietzsche and Ernest Hemingway, as a holiday resort. Rapallo offers activities for all tastes: hiking trails on the Portofino Promontory, religious pilgrimages and beaches.

  • Alassio:

this city preserves a set of peculiarities, both offered by nature and by the hand of man and which make it a real jewel in the treasure chest of Liguria. Although the sea is one of the main attractions of Alassio, there is no shortage of options even for those who want to enjoy the beauties of the town in total relaxation. One of the symbols of the city is the famous Muretto di Alassio . It is a wall which, since 1953, has been covered with ceramic tiles bearing the signatures of famous people.

  • Imperia:

town on the west coast, it owes its name to the Impero stream, which divided the two rival towns Oneglia and Porto Maurizio. From the union of two inhabited centers, a third was born that has incorporated both of them. For this reason in Imperia there are two ports, two historic centers and two beaches . But the wonders are not over, in fact other equally well-known places absolutely deserve to be visited:

I found my love in Portofino because in dreams I still believe the strange game of fate in Portofino took my heart. “So sang Fred Buscaglione and when you get here you can’t help but fall in love with this little village. Splendid and renowned tourist resort on the Ligurian Riviera, it is located in a suggestive inlet between the Gulf of Tigullio and Punta Carega. The whole coast of Portofino is distinguished by its seaside villages and its towns with typical Ligurian colored houses. Moreover, since 1995 it has been included in the “ Jewels of Europe ”, the club that brings together the most important European tourist centers. (click here to discover a fantastic tour)

Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Monterosso and Vernazza are the villages suspended between sea and land that give life to the Cinque Terre. These villages overlooking the sea are part of a National Park and have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997, to preserve this kingdom of wild scents. Not just the sea: in the hinterland there are beautiful medieval villages, characteristic sanctuaries, artisan shops and typical dishes to taste. it is a city that has a timeless, immortal charm, which manages to attract tourists not only in the summer season, the ideal time to visit the whole of Liguria, but throughout the year. Sanremo is known for the famous Italian Song Festival , but also for the large Casino along with many other things to see.

Ventimiglia is a pretty Ligurian town just 8 km from France and the renowned Côte d’Azur. It is nicknamed the ” western gate of Italy “, precisely because it is one of the most comfortable and used access routes to reach France. Ventimiglia boasts several religious and non-religious buildings, interesting to visit both from an architectural and artistic point of view, and all of them arouse great interest in tourists, such as the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta.
